Dodge & Bolt

Dodge & Bolt began her derby career having no idea what the sport was, or how it worked. She met with a group of ladies on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, threw in 10 bucks, and Coastal Assassins Roller Derby was born. Having only ever occasionally roller skated in her youth, all she knew was that if a girl was better than her at something, she was going to beat her. This attitude saw her rise to make up part of the coaching committee, with information sources directly from DNN and badgering any skater who would respond to her needy facebook requests. Dodge captained the Blood Diamonds several times through an undefeated season, picking up a spate of MVP awards, with their efforts dashed in her last game with the league in a 4-point loss at overtime.

The end of her time with CARD coincided with her trip to Canada to play for Team Australia in the first Derby World Cup. The ladies in green and gold came in fourth. Quite a feat for a team that entered the tournament unranked! Dodge since moved to Brisbane, to play for the Sun State Roller Girls. She settled swiftly in with her home team the Riots, and has been training with the Travel Team since The Great Southern Slam in June 2012. The Sun State Roller Girls are headed in to defend their #1 spot in Queensland at the end of September, with Dodge & Bolt in their ranks. With all eyes on the prize, the future looks good in black & yellow. Her sights are set on the US, with hopes of moving in the coming years to play for one of the teams so admired back in Australia..
